On September 28, 2016, the House of Representatives passed a bill to delay the effective date of the new overtime rule by six months (from December 1, 2016 to June 1, 2017).  The bill, for a law entitled the “Regulatory Relief for Small Businesses, Schools, and Nonprofits Act” (H.R.6094), would have to pass the Senate and be signed by the President to become law.  The White House has already issued a statement confirming that the President would veto the bill if it were presented to him.
